the houses of Granada

i almost forgot... everything having been snow and ice here for two months, it's hard to remember how wonderful it was to walk between the houses of Granada.
when you drive towards the city, passing uncountable gnarled olive trees and weary mountains covered in brown dust, you don't expect such a vibrant mix of ancient, majestic history, modern elegance and multi-coloroured, alternative life styles.
that's what got me mesmerized; the mix. i have seen many a beautiful place in all my travelling and i could on for hours about landscapes, cities, monuments, museums, architecture... on and on. sometimes i wish i could travel like that - on and on, always. and that is why it's an extra special feeling for me when i come to a place i've never been before yet feels like home. a place where i can imagine staying. living.
Granada was like that. i am going to return, see more of it and go deeper into the mix. you can see parts of it here; the stylish architecture in one part and the old homes in another part of the city. the cool whiteness next to the crazy splashes of colour. and Alhambra? i'll return to that soon.

Spring Night - yes, i could replace that walking women in the first image with you right away. i think you would fit in the Granada magic just perfectly.

Kat - thank you! i'm ok - longing for winter to loosen the frozen grip - but ok. and it was good to see your dreamy, pretty work again.

I hardly know Spain at all - a weekend in Barcelona is all I can claim - but this looks like a town to visit. When were you there?
